Jeffrey Mark Burns, Candidate for Executive Council

Candidate statement for September 2017 ACHA Election

I have belonged to the American Catholic Historical Association for more than thirty years. I have regularly attended the annual meeting and many of the Spring meetings of the Association. From 2002 to 2016, I sponsored a panel at the annual meeting through the Academy of American Franciscan History. Professionally, I served as archivist for the Archdiocese of San Francisco for thirty-one years. I established and oversaw an active Friends of the Archives. I also taught at the Franciscan School of Theology and at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park. Since 2002 I have directed the Academy of American Franciscan History. Since 2014 I have directed the Frances G. Harpst Center for Catholic Thought and Culture at the University of San Diego.

I will bring my experience and dedication to the Executive Council. Thank you.
