ACHA now accepting applications for Graduate Student Summer Research Grants

Application period: February 24-April 30, 2017
Announcement: Spring 2017

The American Catholic Historical Association is accepting applications for its 2017 Graduate Student Summer Research Grants beginning in through April 30, 2017.  Grant monies will be awarded to ACHA graduate student members who are ABD and attending an accredited institution of higher learning. This year the ACHA will again fund three (3) $1000 grants.

Funding will be awarded on a competitive basis to individuals who promote the mission of the American Catholic Historical Association: scholarly pursuit of the study of Catholicism.  All those competing for ACHA grants must be a member at the time he/she applies and remain a member-in-good-standing through the duration of the grant.

Once awarded, recipients will receive half the funding before the travel or event takes place.  The other half of the grant will be awarded upon submission of an after action report, suitable for publication on the ACHA website, detailing one’s research.  In all cases, acknowledgment of ACHA funding is expected.

When preparing one’s submission, the following material must be included:

1) A two page (max.) request narrative, explaining one’s research project and how the grant will further that endeavor.

2) c.v.

3) Letter of support from one’s dissertation director. This letter has to confirm your ABD status and should complement one’s request narrative.

All materials are to be sent to the ACHA office via electronic correspondence: [email protected]
