Call for Papers

Theme: Empire: Global Expansion of U.S. Catholic Influence

For more than thirty years the U.S. Catholic Historian has published theme-based issues relevant to the history of American Catholicism.  An upcoming issue will address the theme of “Empire.” Contributions could include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Studies of U.S. Catholic participation in “Empire” building: the role of Catholicism in the economic, military, and cultural influence of the U.S. on other countries.
  • Relationship of Catholics to U.S. government’s attempts at territorial expansion (Philippines, Puerto Rico, etc.)
  • U.S. missionaries and missionary orders working in global contexts (South America, Latin America, Asia, Africa)

Scholars considering a submission are asked to contact the editor, Fr. David Endres at [email protected] before preparing a contribution. Approximate length is 7,000-10,000 words. We ask for submissions by May 1, 2015 and look forward to hearing from potential contributors.
